The core standards for the CNC turning industry are managed by the National Technical Committee on Standardization of Metal Cutting Machine Tools, covering multiple aspects such as machine tool accuracy, performance, safety, and energy efficiency.

CNC turning machining requires adherence to certain industry standards and specifications to ensure machining quality and safety. These standards and specifications include machine tool accuracy standards, tool selection standards, and machining process specifications. For example, machine tool accuracy standards specify various accuracy indicators of the machine tool under no-load and load conditions, such as the radial runout and axial movement of the spindle; tool selection standards specify the material and geometric parameters of the tools based on the properties of the machined material and machining requirements; and machining process specifications detail the operational requirements for each stage, from workpiece clamping to cutting parameter setting and machining process monitoring.

Accuracy and Performance Inspection

GB/T 16462 Series: Core inspection standards for CNC lathes and turning centers, comprising multiple parts: Geometric accuracy inspection of horizontal machine tools; Geometric accuracy inspection of vertical machine tools;

Speed and interpolation accuracy inspection, specifying spindle speed and multi-axis linkage trajectory accuracy.

GB/T 40808.2-2025 and GB/T 40808.3-2025: Machine tool environmental assessment standards, specifying energy consumption measurement methods and energy efficiency testing principles respectively, will be implemented on July 1, 2026.

Safety and Structural Specifications

JB/T 15087-2025: Technical Specification for Green Design Product Evaluation, applicable to the environmentally friendly design and manufacturing of CNC machine tools. CNC Milling and Turning Machine Tool Standard (implemented in 2018): Unifies the technical specifications of milling and turning composite equipment, covering structural design, machining accuracy and safety protection, and promotes industry standardization.
